Now Accepting Teams!

This year we will be accepting 12 teams to participate in Hockey Kicks Cancer on July 26, 2014.

The Pittsburgh Indoor Sports Arena accommodations will allow us to once again play two games at a time, splitting the larger, open field in two. The tournament will be double elimination.

Teams will be limited to a minimum of 10 players and a maximum of 13. The cost is $23 per player.

If you would like to host a team, email hockeykickscancer@gmail.com with the following information:

Team Name
Team Captain
Email and Phone Number for Captain

We will reach out to teams at a later date to choose team colors. Teams will choose colors in order of senority from previous years, with the previous year’s champion choosing first.

We ask that all teams donate either a prize basket or auction item to the event.

Registration will open on April 1st and run through June 30th. Additional entries will not be accepted after June 30th. No acceptions, as shirts will need to be ordered by that date. Spectators and additional players will be able to pay at the door, but will not be guaranteed to receive a shirt. Extra shirts will be in limited supply at the event.

A registration link will be made available on April 1st. Please follow us on Twitter @hkcancer14 and on Facebook for up to date information on the event.

A registration link will be emailed to all team captains on April 1st.

Thank you for your support and we look forward to another great event!

Hockey Kicks Cancer 2014 Kick-Off!

It’s that time again! Time to get ready for Hockey Kicks Cancer’s 3rd annual tournament.

The date for Hockey Kicks Cancer 2014 is set for July 26. Registration will open at 10:00am, with the first game to begin at 11:00. A schedule of game times will be released a week prior to the event. As usual, plan for your team to arrive 30 minutes prior to your first game to sign-in, and receive your t-shirt.

The event will be held at the Pittsburgh Indoor Sports Arena in Cheswick again. This year we can expect 10-12 teams in  a double-elimination kickball tournament.

In addition to kickball, we will have a cornhole tournament for a fee of $10 per team. There will be a prize for the winning team. More details to come.

If you would like to sponsor a team, we are accepting teams with a minimum of 10 players to a team. Email us at hockeykickscancer@gmail.com to register a team.

We are asking that each team donate a prize basket to the event. Prize basket ideas include Pittsburgh sports, game tickets, beer baskets, gift card trees, and college sports.

Event registration will open April 1st and run through June 30th.

Check back in the coming weeks for more information about this year’s event!

Kickball Rules!

Rules of the game will run similar to your typical, elementary school-recess kickball game.

1. Games will be played 3-4 at a time as multiple fields are allowed.
2. We are running a 10 team-double elimination tournament. The first games are to begin at 11:00am.
3. Games will be played at a minimum of 5 innings, extra innings will be played in the event of a tie.
4. 9 players are allowed on the field at a time per team, filling all of the appropriate infield and outfield positions. Players may rotate from inning to inning.
5. All players on a team are permitted in the batting order.
6. There will be 3 outs to retire the side.
7. Foul lines and homerun lines will be determined on site the night before as we explore our layout possibilities with facility management.
8. Unsportsmanlike conduct will result in removal from the tournament.
9. If you wish to play music or add accessories to your uniforms, feel free. Just ensure that you are dressed in a way that will not cause injury to yourself and others.

Please plan to arrive 30 minutes prior to your first game! We will begin at 11:00. If umpires are not available, we will utilize the honor system. If you are willing to umpire games in between your own games, we would greatly appreciate it. Please be fair and objective!

This is a family friendly event. Please always keep in mind that this event is to benefit charity. It is only a game. Treat it as such and have a good time!

Alcohol Policy for HKC! IMPORTANT

As you may know, there is a pub on site for Hockey Kicks Cancer this year. Management has also agreed that tailgating will be allowed on the premises, so long as we keep things under control. We kindly and respectfully ask that no one abuse this privilege.

Underage drinking will not be allowed or tolerated. Drug use of any kind also will not be allowed. If these rules are violated, proper authorities will be notified.

If you will be drinking, please have a designated driver available. If you do not have one, one can be arranged for you.

This is a wonderful event for a great cause and we hope to see it continue to grow for years to come. Please, use your best judgement so that we may have a fun but safe time!

Thank you all and we will see you on Saturday!
